	..Operation	Salient Features
	The disintegrator comprises of the following : Power Source Solid State Servo drive Machine tool comprising of T-slotted work surface for changing the workpiece. The servo slide movement with vibrating electrode mounted on cross arm. The coolant tank and the coolant pump unit for pressurised coolant flow. The disintegrators are to be used with tubular electrodes, through which coolant is passed. The core of the broken tap/drill is burnt out so that the flutes become loose. Due to this, there is no damage to the threads or the wall of the parent material. Total safety is assured for the operator and the parent component. Apart from the removal of broken taps, drills etc. drilling holes in any hardened steel job without distorting the metal or affecting the metallurgy of the component is possible by using the disintegrator. The workpiece containing the remains of the broken drill or tap is firmly secured. Proper size electrode is selected and fitted in the vibrating head and then centered on the workpiece in much the same manner as when setting up for drilling a hole. The controller provides the arcing power and also houses the servocontrol, pump and other protection circuitry. When the electrode makes contact with the broken tool surface in the workpiece electrical circuit is completed, permitting passing of current which creates a hot spot at the point of contact. As the hot spot is created, the head and electrode are fractionally raised to momentarily break the circuit. This causes an arc between the tip of the electrode and the point of contact of the workpiece. The arc breaks down some of the coolant, releasing oxygen which is absorbed by the hot metal producing an accelerated and intensified oxidation of the metal., disintegrating it immediately. At the same time, a sudden contraction due to the steam of coolant causes larger portions of the broken tool material than those actually oxidised to break off. The particles thus broken off are washed away by pressure of the coolant stream. The process occurs rapidly and continuously until only a centre stud and the wall or teeth of the broken tool remain. These can be easily removed with the aid of any scriber like tool.
